This Years Love...

Hola! What an exciting weekend it has been. If you read my previous blog you know by now, that Leslie and John are a married couple. It was a beautiful wedding with wonderful people to celebrate it with. I promised I would provide you some pictures- so here are a few of my favorites!

The church had this old ancient feel to it. Antique stained glass, large dome ceilings...it was perfect! It looked like a castle : ) I'm sure I just described what every church looks like, but this one I loved! Even the pastor was unique..'Remember, Party after the ceremony, not before.' (oops)

Mirror, mirror on the wall whose the fairest of them all?
Leslie dress was simplicity! She is not the type of person to bedazzle a wedding dress. It was simple, sleek and classy. The Bridesmaid dresses were a beautiful plum/maroon color. We finished off our dresses with our bridal gifts; necklaces, earrings and outstanding updo's!

Keri, Heather, Ali, Tori and Lauren- We had a blast kicking back in the party bus drinking some bubbly, getting ready in the hair spray infested suite and tearing up while watching Leslie walk down the aisle.
Thank you to Leslie & John and their families for such a beautiful wedding and unforgettable night. Ohhh and one last thing...my entrance walk into the reception was Thriller. ah. ha ha ha

Bells will be ringing....

John & LeslieI can not believe the day is almost upon us! On Saturday October 24th, 2009 one of my very best friends, Leslie, will be tying the knot with her college sweetheart, John. I was fortunate enough to meet both of them my sophomore year in college and I have many memories in the Ali vault that I promise not to release to the public. Sorry Perez! Not dishing the good stuff today.

Leslie and John will be creating a beautiful life together after their wedding, which will be held in Cincinnati. Leslie will be moving ship to Springfield, Illinois to reside with her soon to be hubby for the first time! Presently, Leslie is working for US Bank punching numbers and being a finance guru and John is running a family plumbing business in Springfield. I get the feeling John deals with a lot of shit. These two love birds are perfect for each other. But if there is one thing we all know, never put them in the same room on the day the Bengals and the Browns play. It is not pretty. I hope to follow up on this blog with some great pictures from the wedding and of the bride and groom! I am anxious to walk down the aisle as a brides maid and support my dear friend as she takes the leap into the married life. John, I hope you enjoy pork rinds, ramen noodles and tuna : )
CONGRATULATIONS!

'A wedding is the entrance to a marriage: One drives through, and suddenly one's there! Stepping from a fairy tale carriage Into quite ordinary air. Life is now a dance, though beautiful, Requiring intense coordination; Each self becomes, in ways inscrutable, More fully what it is in combination. And we who love you wait, of course, outside As you become through love that mystery: One flesh made whole of separate groom and bride; Two selves, one life; two notes, one harmony. When you are one, we then may cherish two:
Loving not just one, but both of you.'

The Artsy One.

THE ARTSY ONE

I hope everyone enjoyed their long holiday weekend! I know I did : ) I went back to my old roots for a minute. I dabbled in a little painting (See below). I took a candle light Yoga Class just a block away from where I live! So convenient. And I found a new TV station that I love! HGTV : )

Inspired Yoga is located right behind Meridian Park in this beautiful yellow antique building. It used to be the Embassy of Hungary- lots of history already! It was such a charming, relaxing environment. Candles were lit, incense were burning and my body was craving for a good stretch. A lot of folks think Yoga is about stretching and flexibility- which is exactly why I am going to make Tom, (my little trained bunny) take a class with me so he can see what Yoga is REALLY about.

Stretching, balancing, breathing and trying to find yourself in a calm state of mind is really difficult for first timers! Growing up I lived for dancing, so the balancing and flexibility aspect I have down, but breathing is my issue. It never really hit me that I wasn't suppose to gasp for air after every difficult move until I found Yoga a few years ago. It is a shame I stopped going, but
I am very excited to get back into it!

I will let you know how Tom's first session goes. It should be very interesting! (no pressure Tom, really)

Painting...

I am thrilled to get back in to painting as well. The last picture I painted was over a year ago for Tom's brother, Joe. It was a Christmas present his parents gave him. I loved that painting because I knew Joe could relate to the painting and give it that much more meaning. This year he is volunteering his time in Africa, which is where the inspiration for the picture came from. You can view it below in the picture of me and a few girlfriends.
I really enjoy the artsy things in life. It brings meaning to my life and to others. I would love to paint a little more while I am in DC. If anyone is interested, please shoot me a message on facebook or myspace I would be happy to discuss some ideas and save you a few dollars. Remember, Christmas is right around the corner- always a great original gift : )

'Thats life....thats what all people say.'

Life is a lot like a football game. Sometimes you win, you walk off the field- head held high knowing you did something right. Other times you lose, you walk off the field head hanging low, afraid to look at the eyes of the people you let down. But, The most exhilarating parts in life and football are the four quarters it takes to get to where you are today
For me, life began in high school.

Quarter 1: High school
Coming into your teen years is such a roller coaster. There are just too many interceptions that are thrown your way. Friends, boyfriends, social status, parties, sports, clubs, and of course gossip. Learning how to juggle everything was difficult, but not impossible, not for a high schooler. Weekdays of course is when your studies took place, club meetings, and gossip...lots of gossip. What is up with this gossip? After school was always left to practice for your sport of choice. After a dragging day of learning, the best time to practice is when we are completely maxed out. Great idea coach! (Not Really.) The weekends nights were spent creeping around Barnesville trying to find all the big parties, but hiding your tracks from your parents at the same time. (Sorry Mom-your intuition was always right.)
I never considered myself popular, but I did have a best friend and that is what mattered to me the most. As soon as I met her, we were instantly know as aliandkerah or kerahandali. Our names ran together just like our lives. We were inseparable. The McKenzie's home, specifically the basement her sister designed, became our safe haven. I still find myself reminiscing about our times spent on Locus Drive. We tried to make the best decisions throughout high school- if we didn't think it was a good idea- we thought of all the reasons why it should be. It is no surprise our faults always showed up in our choice of boys. The bad boys. I spent years in high school convincing Kerah to move on- she could do better and she spent years convincing me to move on- I could do better. Of course we never took our own advice or each others on that subject. We were 'young and in love'. Love is battlefield and we were determined to win.

Quarter 2: College

The 2nd quarter of this game called life is used to put your high school partying skills to use. COLLEGE. All those innocent high school parties are nothing compared to Homecoming weekend, Mom's AND Dad's weekend, Millfest, Palmerfest, Halloween, New Years eve, and just all those crazy weekends in between. Though we spent many of our days studying for exams or recooperating from the previous nights festivities it was always the best times we barely remembered.

During this time I met my musketeers. Who would of thought walking into my quad dorm room that one day I would be walking down the aisle as their brides maid. What an honor it shall be! Though we battled love like any other couple our focus was having fun while were doing it. I mean how often do you use a frozen hot dog as an ice pack for a bump on the head. Or rush your roommate to the ER after she falls through the glass table from too much air guitar jamming. Not often. Wait there is so much more. One of my favorite memories is the quote: 'Smell my butt' or 'COLLEGE!' You can't help but snicker at that one. I learned a lot in college. I learn about hearing, speech and the best bars. I also learned from Leslie to be my own personal hairstylist. Who would of thought you could cut your hair with a razor or use your own tin foil to die strips of blond and burn your scalp too! Did you know snow isn't the only place you can do a snow angel? Apparently the kitchen floor and cereal works too after a few brewskies. Our memories will last a lifetime. We successfully had a great time and received college degrees too!

Quarter 3: Career
Coming soon...
